Rich in fishing stock, a diving and snorkelling haven - thanks to its unpolluted and clear waters - and a hotspot for sailing enthusiasts, local customers and regular tourists alike know that no visit to Baltimore is complete without a bowl of Casey's renowned seafood chowder, served with delicious homemade brown bread, or a fresh crab- meat sandwich accompanied by a bowl of mouthwatering homemade chips.
Established by Ann and Michael Casey in 1975, the bar was originally a small country pub. It quickly established reputation for excellent food has resulted in a number of extension projects over the years and today Casey's of Baltimore is a renowned seafood restaurant and, or course, an idyllic Irish bar serving perfect fare.
Not surprising due to its location Caseys specialises in Local West Cork Seafood, but unusually the bar has been doing so now for over 40 years.
'Bars just didn't serve food back then, so we were a little shocked when it worked. We started offering more seafood dishes and we included "lobster at the bar" . The recipes we use today are still the same.
Bar customers can also enjoy specialties of the house such as Whole Prawns with homemade brown bread or a Seafood Platter or a large bowl of Roaring Water Bay Mussels with homemade chips.
Looking to the future, Casey's recently started farming their own organic vegetables . "We're very attracted to the idea that the majority of ingredients served at Casey's of Baltimore is produced either by us, or sourced from local suppliers that we know, 'the quality of local produce is second to none, and that's reflected in the incredible flavour of our food. We're constantly reviewing the quality of the produce we serve and we're proud of our reputation for quality homemade food".
